Derek Jeter and Mike Piazza Game Used Bases Sweet Spot 2001 Upper Deck

I have for sale a mint 2001 Upper Deck Derek Jeter and Mike Piazza game used bases sweet spot. Card is mint.

The gray shadows around the top and down the right side are due to the scanning.

Boston Celtics playing like the glory days

The Boston Celtics are undefeated and playing like the glory days of the Bird, McHale and Parrish era. Looks like the trade for Kevin Garnett and the signing of Ray Allen has really sparked this team. It’s nice to see Paul Pierce have a team around him.

(Update) Well, the C’s fought hard as they were done  down by 20 at one point in the game and actually took the lead but could not hold on as the Magic were just too tough at home. The Celts got it to with n 1 at 103-102 with 7.2 seconds left and the Magic made a free throw two go up two 104-102. Celts get the ball at half court and Paul Pierce misses the three pointer and the Celts lose their first game of the year.

Alex Rodriguez back to the New York Yankees?

It looks like the Yankees are negotiating with ARod again after they said they wouldn’t take him back. This time they started negotiating with ARod w/o his agent. It seems to me that ARod’s market is not as attractive as he was hoping. Looks like he’ll have to pay back the money the Yankees still owe the Texas Rangers. That’s about 21 million dollars. It does however looks like he will be signing a ten year deal worth about 275 million dollars. A lot of money if you ask me.

Sports Card Collecting Why?

I started collecting when I was little, that was back in the early 1960’s. I was and still am a big Red Sox fan. My father who was born in 1931 and he never saw the Red Sox win a World Series. He passed away in 1990. My grandfather did get to see a few as he was born in 1900 and he saw his last one when he was 18 in 1918 and he lived until 1969. 51 years without seeing another World Series.

I went from 1954 to 2004 without the Sox winning one but now I have experienced two and hopefully more will come.

My son Justin was born in Chanhassen, MN and he was a Twins fan and experienced a World Series title in 1987 and 1991 and in 1990 he started collecting baseball cards and that is when he got me hooked on collecting sports cards. I not only started collecting baseball cards again, I also collected football, basketball and some hockey.

I collected for about 5-6 years when I was a child and that was when I could buy packs for a nickel. When Justin and I were buying cards they were at least a buck a pack and some were even more as Ken Griffey Jr. got hot and his 89 Upper Deck card was red hot. I think packs were $ 4.00 back then.

I think my favorite baseball set is 1963 and someday I’ll try and finish it. I only have a few Red Sox players now but I’ll get there eventually.
